In this article, the aim is to focus on two Brazilian authors who have dealt with the theme of political migrations in their work: Milton Hatoum and Godofredo de Oliveira Neto. As we will see, Hatoum, principally in his Amazon novels, focuses on the lives of Arab immigrants in the Amazon region, and in A noite da espera, the first novel in his most recent trilogy, deals with the question of migration for political reasons, a subject he had centred on in a previously published short story. Migration for political reasons is also the theme of another novel that will be examined here, Amores exilados (Exiled Loves), by Godofredo de Oliveira Neto.
