Abstract

The climate change, mainly due to greenhouse gases, has been the dominant theme in the debate about the future of the planet or the environmental crisis. However, as Acselrad (2004, p. 13-14) warns, the notion of environmental crisis cannot be fetishized, detaching it from the “dynamics of society and culture”. That is, it is the social agents through the "social forms of appropriation and the diverse cultural practices of meaning" that objectify the environment. Environmental consciences cannot be seen as unique, homogeneous, dehistoricized.
