Abstract

Starting from the general context of the multiple “68's” that make up the pieces of the puzzle of the World Cultural Revolution of 1968, in this essay we want to focus in particular on the Cuban '68 movement, that is, the unique way in which this world revolution became present on the rebellious and insurrectionary Caribbean island, which, on January 1, 1959, defeated and overthrew the government of Fulgencio Batista and launched a project of radical anti-capitalist transformation of Cuban society as a whole. In this brief essay, we also want to analyze, and especially, the role played by the important figure of Ernesto Che Guevara in that singular and specific Cuban 1968, who, in more general terms, was not only the main theoretician of the fundamental global process that was the Cuban Revolution during its initial stage, but also an active promoter and driving force, as well as a very sensitive and receptive interpreter, of the profound changes that the cultural revolution of 1968 demanded and implied on the island of Cuba, but also in general.
