Effects of the colonization directed in the Maranhense territory: Reflections from the colonization project of the Alto Turi

Abstract

The delineated central intention in the construction of this article if came back to the accomplishment of an interpretation of the effect of the developed projects of settling in the maranhense territory the northwest of this state. One is about a reading that objectified to understand the consequences of the settling projects and its relations with the urbanization developed in the maranhense territory. It fits to stand out that the article is integrant part of the contained ideas in the defended and approved thesis of doctored in the Program of After-graduation in Geography of the Federal University of Uberlândia in the year of 2015, intitled “Enredos of the urban-regional dynamics Sulmaranhense: reflections from the economic centralidade of Açailândia, Balsas and Imperatriz”. The understanding of the functional dynamics of these urban nuclei, that if present in the regional scene Sulmaranhense as most important of this region, demanded of beginning that we made a releitura of the materialized projects of settling in this space. By means of this analytical exercise it was possible to understand the violent and expropriator character that characterized the appropriation of lands maranhense during this period.
