Abstract

This article have as objective to report on important aspects of the life of the professor Antônio Jorge as professor emeritus of the “Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros – Unimontes” (Montes Claros State University - Unimontes) and of the “Departamento de Geo-ciências” (Department of Geosciences), to which devoted a big piece of his life, coming to pass away on the service of this institutions. His history, commitment and dedication shall never be forgotten by this academy, hereby is honored whom deservedly is acclaimed with honor. This professor is honored for his entrepreneur vision on the regional development of Unimontes, example of master, of widespread competence. Here is registered the tribute of the Department and University to the professor Antônio Jorge for his achievements on the academic development of this Institution of education and its inception on the local, regional
and national contexts of the brazilian higher education.
