Agrofinancialization and the use of pesticides in the Brazilian sugarcane-energy sector have raised concerns due to their socioeconomic and environmental impacts. In this context, this article aims to analyze the relationship between agrofinancialization and pesticides, identi-fying the problems resulting from this interaction and proposing sustainable alternatives. The research problem lies in the dependence of the sugarcane-energy sector on external fi-nancial resources and the intensive use of pesticides, resulting in land concentration and environmental degradation. The defended hypothesis is that agrofinancialization and the use of pesticides are contributing to an unsustainable model in the sugarcane-energy sector, harming human health, social justice, and the preservation of natural resources. The adopted methodology consists of a comprehensive literature review, with analysis of statistical data, technical reports, and case studies addressing agrofinancialization and the use of pesticides in the Brazilian sugarcane-energy sector. The results point to the concentration of land own-ership and the uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources promoted by agrofinancialization.
