THE USE OF QGIS SOFTWARE IN THE CREATION OF EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL FOR GEOGRAPHY TEACHING

Abstract

The present work aims to conduct a study involving technology and education. Therefore, it is relevant that the technology used is a free and comprehensive program so that teachers can handle and produce their maps and other teaching materials for use in the classroom. Thus, the main objective is the use of the free software QGIS in the production of Geography teaching materials. QGIS is a free and open-source computer program with extensive support tools for data manipulation in map production, as well as providing a wealth of information in its user community, which promotes dialogue and discussion for software improvement as well as in the collaborative production of cartographic products. Therefore, the use of this software by teachers makes this work relevant, as the world is increasingly digital and dynamic, and young people are immersed in this digital age, which can spark their interest in participating in Geography classes in basic and/or higher education.
