NECROCITIZENSHIP IN THE LIGHT OF ETHICS OF OTHERNESS: A POST MORTEM CONVERSATION WITH PAUL RICOEUR

Abstract

This work sought to analyze how the paradigm of ethics of otherness, particularly focusing on Paul Ricoeur's contributions to the subject, can offer new insights in addressing the issue of the deceased body. Furthermore, we introduced the concept of "necrocitizenship" to create a dialectical relationship with the author's work. Through exploring initial problematic situations, such as the burial of transgender individuals according to their birth gender by their families, and the lack of legal resolution, we aimed, within the framework of alterity, to delineate new ways of defining the responsibility of the living towards the subjective aspects of the deceased.
