CENTRALITY REGIONAL AND NEW ARRANGEMENTS REGIONAL AUTHORITIES IN THE CITY

Abstract

The dynamics of urban spaces are expressed by different centrality levels and, therefore,
go beyond the intra-urban scale redefining regional networks. From this premise, in this
paper we propose an analysis of the relationship between urban organization and
expression of centrality of the city of Montes Claros. The study reveals that there is a
reinforcement in concentration of collective consumption means in Montes Claros, a
fact that reaffirms its position as a regional hub. As part of this process, the intra-urban
territory is modified and, thus, modifies the logic of reproduction of the city. Given the
above, it can be seen an emergence of social and functional specialization of spaces,
whether in the form of increase and consolidation of some specific elements, relocation
of productive activities, new urban incorporation strategies or new consumption
practices.
