Abstract

The objective of the study was to describe the analysis of motor skills and the behavior of laterality in individuals over 60 years of age, taking into account participation in physical exercise programs in a community context, where they participate in the Gymnastics for All Project in the neighborhood square Maracanã in the city of Montes Claros / MG. For the purpose 5 elderly people were evaluated, all female over 60 years old. The battery of Psychomotor Tests was applied by academics from the 5th period of the Bachelor of Physical Education course, from the State University of Montes Claros (UNIMONTES). Of the elderly people evaluated in the present study, it was observed that 3 elderly women who practiced physical activity every day in the morning for a period of approximately 2 months, obtained a better performance in relation to balance and motor coordination. We concluded that at the end of the tests applied to the elderly, the results showed great consistency and satisfaction among the representative domains of quality of life, the elderly believed that they would not be able to perform the exercises proposed so easily, but they did a great and excellent job, proving for themselves that the strategy is in physical exercises as a basis for prevention and treatment of major diseases in old age.
