ATIVIDADE FÍSICA COMO FORMA DE PREVENÇÃO DA SARCOPENIA: UMA REVISÃO SISTEMÁTICA

A sarcopenia é um transtorno progressivo e degenerativo do músculo esquelético. Na sarcopenia há baixa massa muscular e baixa força muscular, o que resulta em perda de funções cotidianas e maior risco de quedas. A prevenção da ocorrência dessa condição é fundamental para garantia de maior qualidade de vida para os idosos. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a relevância da atividade física como meio de prevenção da sarcopenia. Trata-se de uma revisão sistemática conduzida conforme as diretrizes do Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review Protocols (PRISMA), buscando responder: qual a relevância da atividade física para a prevenção e controle da sarcopenia e quais as indicações? A prática de treinos de resistência, associada com treinos aeróbicos são necessários para a prevenção da sarcopenia na população. A revisão destaca a necessidade de estratégias de intervenção eficazes ainda na juventude, visando melhorar a qualidade de vida a longo prazo e mitigar o desenvolvimento da sarcopenia. Há necessidade de individualizar as recomendações de exercícios físicos, principalmente em relação aos diferentes gêneros ou condições associadas dos indivíduos, como obesidade. Ainda, a prevenção da sarcopenia está alinhada com a prevenção de outras condições degenerativas do processo de envelhecimento, como a osteoporose.
