The objective was to identify the risk assessment for the development of cardiovascular
disease in menopausal women using the relationship between anthropometric data indicating
obesity associated with dyspnea. This is a quantitative and cross-sectional survey. The study
population were menopausal women followed by the Family Health Strategy. Data collection used
a questionnaire and anthropometric measurements. SPSS software, version 20.0 was used for the
analysis. A descriptive analysis, followed by the comparison of anthropometric measurements
with the occurrence of dyspnea in menopausal women was done through the Kruss-Kallis test. 340
women were interviewed, most were between 59 and 64 years old, 36.2% were overweight and
29.4% were obese. Most (64.7%) had very high cardiovascular risk. Women who had very high
cardiovascular risk showed greater tendency to present dyspnea. It was concluded that women
who had very high risk showed greater tendency to present dyspnea.
