Abstract

Objective: to identify whether pregnant black women COVID-19 have a greater need for hospitalization/hospitalization in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Method: this is a cross-sectional, descriptive, exploratory population-based type study based on data from the Influenza Epidemiological Surveillance System (SIVEP-Gripe), data collection divided between August 2020 and February 2021. The outcome variables were: admission and ICU admission/hospitalization. Descriptive analysis was performed, bivariate analysis by chi-square test, in the final analysis, associations were considered statistically significant if p<0.05. Results: There was no association strongly between skin color and the need for ICU admission/hospitalization. Conclusion: The results, however, provide subsidies to health professionals in order to qualify care at the time of the pandemic.

DESCRIPTORS: COVID-19. Infectious complications in pregnancy. Hospitalization. Intensive Care Unit. Disparities in Health Levels.
