TUTORIAL COUNCIL IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF APODI - RN: MAIN CHALLENGES FOR ITS OPERATION

Abstract

This paper aims to reflect on the role of the Guardian Council in the municipality of Apodi-RN. Seeking a relationship with the national reality, it analyzes the historical process of the struggles for assistance to children and adolescents, focusing from the first initiatives to confront this reality until the materialization of the Statute of Children and Adolescents. Therefore, in addition to reviewing the literature, we are anchored in the data produced by conducting semi-structured interviews with the purpose of knowing the limits and challenges that the counselors face to develop their work. It is concluded that there is a lack of structure and infrastructure, a policy of training tutelary counselors, as well as an absence of a comprehensive assistance policy that acts on the demands placed on the condition of the victims and their families, which are essential factors for a good performance and for safety. guaranteeing the rights of children and adolescents.
