The spread of the pandemic, in a period of cutting policies and low investment in health and education (with an emphasis on research), widened these disparities and made the Brazilian health crisis explicit. The discussion proposed for this volume requires an analysis of what actually determines and crosses the background of the pandemic. In this edition we present articles and experience reports that deal with the pandemic COVID-19 and its social, political, educational, cultural and environmental effects.
