Diversidade de insetos galhadores associada com Copaifera arenicola: estágio ontogenético, crescimento dos ramos e interações interespecíficas.

A organização das comunidades de insetos galhadores pode ser afetada por características da planta hospedeira e pelas interações interespecíficas. Neste estudo nós testamos três hipóteses: (i) a estrutura da comunidade insetos galhadores difere entre árvores e arbustos de C. arenicola (FAbaceae); (ii) plantas com maior taxa de crescimento (maior vigor) apresentam maior riqueza e abundância de insetos galhadores; e (iii) a competição interespecífica é uma força capaz de moldar a organização das comunidades de insetos galhaddores associados com C. arenicola. Um total de 25 espécies de insetos galhadores foram coletadas nos indivíduos de C. arenicola. A comunidade de insetos galhadores (riqueza, composição e abundância) não variou entre arbustos e árvores de C. arenicola. A taxa de crescimento dos ramos não afetou a riqueza de insetos galhadores. Contudo, ramos menores apresentaram maior abundância de galhas, indicando que galhas podem funcionar como um dreno de nutrientes das plantas. Análises de coocorrência mostraram que as interações interespecíficas não são determinantes para organização da comunidade de insetos galhadores em C. arenicola. Portanto a organização da comunidade de insetos galhadores em C. arenicola deve ser melhor explicada por eventos estocásticos de colonização e extinção em cada planta do que por eventos determinísticos como as interações interespecíficas.
