Encuentro-taller El Istmo que queremos: um espaço de organização comunitária frente aos megaprojetos neoextrativistas e de infraestrutura na região do Istmo de Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, México

Abstract

The Encuentro-taller El Istmo que queremos was a space realized in Morro Mazatán, in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, in the year 2021. The activity was promoted by the Ixtepecano Committee in Defense of Life and Territory and convened by community assemblies, collectives, committees and organized radio groups and schools, in order to conduct an analysis of the reality of the region and its communities, identify the presence of megaprojects in the territory and the main conflicts generated, recognize the organizational difficulties of communities and their main challenges, to develop strategies for mobilization and social organization in the construction of community resistance. The purpose of this report, produced from the participant observation methodology, is to record the analyses and the main debates held in the activity that sought to build an organization of community struggles in the region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Participation in the event is part of the PhD in progress in the postgraduate program in Sciences in Ecology and Sustainable Development at El Colegio de la Frontera Sur, on a cotutel basis with the postgraduate program in Sociology at the State University of Ceará.
